Our task is to turn growing cargo flows into long-term economic opportunities for the country, for which we are consistently increasing efficiency and competitiveness - Ioseliani

According to the data from the first seven months of 2026, Georgia has achieved record-breaking figures in cargo transportation over the last decade, with growth recorded in seaports, as well as in railway and aviation sectors. Such a statement made today Tamar Ioseliani, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.

“As an example, I will point to the seaports, where the processing of all major types of cargo has increased. The growth within the railway sector should also be highlighted, where cargo volumes have risen across all modes of transportation, including transit, import, export, and domestic shipping.

It is precisely this consistent and generally multifaceted growth that demonstrates that this result is not a one-time occurrence. It is based on the changes and reforms implemented across the transport sector, as well as investments made in infrastructure, overall efficient management, and the country's consistent transport policy”, - said Tamar Ioseliani.

As she noted, to ensure that the growing transit flows serve the country’s sustainable development, systemic efforts are actively continuing.

“Our task is to maintain this dynamic and turn growing cargo flows into long-term economic opportunities for the country, for which we are consistently increasing both the capacity of Georgia’s transport system, as well as its efficiency and general competitiveness”, - added the Deputy Minister.
