The Catholicos Patriarch of Georgia congratulated the country’s national football team on reaching the first-ever European Championship after their defeat of Greece in the final qualifier match for Euro 2024.

“We congratulate the national football team of Georgia, their coaches, all of Georgia and our compatriots abroad for yesterday"s victory”, - reads the congratulatory letter of Ilia II.

His Holiness also highlighted Georgia’s recent “great successes” in other sports as well. He blessed football players and wished them to “continue making the country happy with further victories”.
