Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested 4 people for the fact of non-reporting a particularly grave crime and trafficking

As a result of operational measures and investigative activities, the employees of the main division for the fight against organized crime under the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested 4 people on charges of human trafficking (trafficking) and failure to report a particularly grave crime.

The following persons were detained for human trafficking, namely previously convicted - M.E. (DoB 1972), L.A. (DoB 1990) and E.L. (DoB 1959) while, previously convicted I.K. (DoB 1972) was detained for failure to report a particularly grave crime.

The committed Crimes envision up to 14 years of imprisonment.

As a result of complex investigative actions, it was established that the defendants developed a human trafficking scheme. In order to accomplish the plan, a disabled citizen was recruited and sexually exploited. In particular, the victim, under the psychological violence, was forced to provide sexual services for other persons in exchange for certain amount of cash. The defendants appropriated the money received.

The investigation also established that the accused I.K. was aware of the mentioned criminal scheme, although did not report the crime to the law enforcement authorities.

The investigation is being conducted under Article 143, part II and Article 376 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
