"France is at war," - Francois Hollande

The historic Versailles congress has started.

Hollande and all parliament observed a minute"s silence, and started by saying that "France is at war".

Hollande said "The acts committed on Friday night in Paris and at the Stade are acts of war, leaving at leat 129 dead and many wounded; this constitutes an attack against our country, against its values against its youth, against its way of life."

He continued: "Isil struck France because it is "free" and "the nation of human rights".

Hollande confirmed to the Versailles congress that the Paris attacks were planned in Syria, launched from Belgium with French help.

"They followed a precise aim to spread fear and division here and to pressure us to stop us in the Middle East to fight terror.

Hollande criticised lack of unity against Isil, asked for large and united coalition against Isil. Hollande will meet Obama and Putin in the coming days to "unite our forces".

Francois Hollande"s speech at Versailles was broadcasted by  the leading foreign media.
