In the first 6 months of 2025, Georgian airports served a record number of passengers, as well as a record number of flights performed

The first half of the year ended with record-breaking growth for the civil aviation sector. In the first six months of 2025, Georgian airports served 3,654,063 passengers, which is 14% more than the number of passengers received in the same period of 2024.

In January-June of this year, Tbilisi International Airport served 2,358,937 passengers. The increase was 11% compared to the same period of 2024. According to the first 6 months, Kutaisi International Airport served 833,512 passengers, which is 12% more than the number of passengers transported in the same period of last year. 450,330 passengers were transported through Batumi International Airport, which is 35% more than the figures for January-June 2024.

In January-June of the current year, a record number of international and domestic flights, up to 17 000, were operated at Georgian airports. The number of regular flights operated during the first half of the year amounted to 12,857 flights, while the number of charter flights reached 3,874.

In total, the number of passenger and cargo flights operated in the first half of the year (16,731) exceeds the number of flights operated in the same period of 2024 by 14%.

The growth rates are also high in terms of air cargo transportation - in January-June 2025, the volume of cargo transported by air amounted to 16,550.916 tons. Compared to the same period of 2024, cargo turnover increased by 50%.

The use of Georgian airspace has increased, in particular, compared to the first 6 months of 2024, the use of Georgian airspace has increased by 7%. In total, 139,945 flights were recorded in January-June 2025.

In terms of the number of passengers carried in January-June 2025, Wizz Air is still the leader in the Georgian aviation market. The airline holds an 18% market share and has carried 642,956 passengers.

The top-5 in terms of the number/percentage of passengers carried on international regular and charter flights are as follows:

Wizz Air Hungary – 18% (642,956 passengers);
Pegasus – 8% (284,984 passengers);
Georgian Airways – 8% (272,568 passengers);
Turkish Airlines – 7% (268,959 passengers);
Azerbaijan Airlines – 6% (222,237 passengers).
