For the first time in the history of the European Union the article 42 will be activated.

 According to the regulations, if one of the member countries becomes  a victim of armed aggression on its territory , other member states are obliged  to provide help and support according to article 51, which provides  the right to defense. France has asked the European Union to activate Article 42 after the attacks in Paris.
