In light of the escalation of Turkey-Russia relations the first statements were made in Washington, where French president, and Barack Obama are meeting.

Francois Hollande said that France wants to work alongside Russia, but only if President Vladimir Putin "fully commits" to supporting a political transition in Syria.

"France wants to cooperate with any country that wants to end the civil war in Syria. I am going to tell the Russian president that France is ready to work with Moscow if Russia directs its own efforts toward combating the Islamic State, "- said Francois olandim.

The presidents also talked about the success of the coalition against the terrorist group. After the terrorist attacks in Paris, it was the first meeting between Obama and Hollande.
