Turkey is a NATO member country and a strategic partner of NATO, therefore, NATO supports the territorial integrity of Turkey, - said the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg told journalists after after 2-hour meeting .

Also, NATO Secretary General explained that it is necessary to de-escalate the conflict and use all diplomatic means to do this.

Stoltenberg said that NATO supports Ankara and Russian contacts. According to him, the common enemy for NATO and Russia should be the Islamic state.

"The situation is quite serious, so I welcome the more contacts between Ankara and Moscow to expire this incident and avoid similar incidents in the future. Our common enemy must be an Islamic state, and I welcome all the efforts to fight against the terrorist organization, "- said Jens Stoltenberg.
