According to Vakhtang Tsintsadze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, the high economic growth trends recorded in the 1st quarter of 2026 were reflected in the improvement of the average monthly wages of hired employees.
“Specifically, according to preliminary data, the nominal average salary of hired employees during the January-March period of this year increased by 8.9% and amounted to 2,364 GEL.
It is noteworthy that growth is recorded in all sectors of the economy, including particularly high salaries in the insurance and financial sector, where the average salary exceeds 5,900 GEL. The figures are also quite high in information and communications, the mining industry, and other sectors”, - explained Vakhtang Tsintsadze.
As he added, the growth of salaries is supported by the correct economic policy implemented by the Government of Georgia.
“The [state] programs [aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the private sector], in fact, stimulate business activity and, ultimately, are reflected on the one hand in employment and job creation, and on the other hand, in the increase of wages for employees. All of this, of course, creates the attractive environment in both investment and other economic directions that is observed in Georgia”, - added the Deputy Minister.
