The PoG has charged a foreign citizen with the illegal purchase, storage and illegal importation of a particularly large amount of narcotics into Georgia

The Prosecutor`s Office of Georgia has charged a foreign citizen with the illegal purchase, possession and illegal importation of a particularly large amount of narcotics into Georgia.

The investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that the accused, while abroad, illegally purchased and stored a particularly large amount of 6.7874 g. of the narcotic drug "MDMA" and 0.0968 g. of "cocaine", which he illegally imported into Georgia through the customs checkpoint "Batumi Airport". The aforementioned narcotic drugs were seized as a result of an investigative action in the administrative building of Batumi Airport.

The detainee was charged under Article 260, Part 3, Subparagraph "a" (purchase and storage of narcotic drugs in an especially large amount) and Article 262, Part 4, Subparagraph "a" (illegal import of narcotic drugs into Georgia in an especially large amount) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for a sentence of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.

Based on the prosecutor`s motion, the court has already sentenced the defendant to imprisonment as a preventive measure.
