Employees of the Adjara Main Division of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, along with the Customs Department of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance, detained a foreign national on charges of illegal purchase, storage, and smuggling of an especially large quantity of narcotics into Georgia.

As a result of a search of the suspect`s person and hand luggage at the Batumi International Airport, law enforcement officers seized especially large quantities of narcotics as pieces of evidence, including MDMA and cocaine.

The investigation is conducted under Articles 260 and 262 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carry a penalty of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
