We are ready to speak with all interested parties to ensure the operationalization of Anaklia Port as effectively as possible - the new model will guarantee both the protection of our strategic and national interests, as well as the most efficient attraction of cargo. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia.

"The interest in Anaklia Port is very broad. This interest has been expressed by the countries of our region, the South Caucasus, Central Asia, as well as Middle Eastern countries.

European entities, mostly private companies in this case, are also expressing interest. There is a very wide interest. We are ready to speak with all interested parties to ensure the operationalization of this port as effectively as possible. The key to the port„s functioning is attracting cargo. Whomever offers us better terms, we will establish the corresponding relations with them.

I am glad that work on the development of Anaklia Port has started with renewed energy. Work on infrastructure development has resumed at a very fast pace. We had a certain pause, which was related to the revision of the contracts. The contract was valued at 200 million, and it was reduced by USD 50 million based on the negotiations conducted by the Minister of Economy and the Ministry of Economy with the respective company. There was room for cost reduction, and we saved budget funds as much as possible.

As for the new model, the new model is optimal for ensuring the protection of national interests; the port will be entirely Georgian, and this model also allows us to involve multiple entities in its functioning - relevant interested parties, states, and companies. Consequently, both the protection of our strategic, national interests and the most efficient attraction of cargo will be guaranteed. This is the optimal model proposed by the Ministry of Economy and approved by the Government of Georgia", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
