The rehabilitation works on Rustaveli Avenue will begin at 00:00 on July 23, from which time all types of vehicular traffic will be fully restricted on Rustaveli Avenue and on part of Merab Kostava Street.
The rehabilitation area covers the territory from Tamar Chovelidze Street to Freedom Square, totaling up to two kilometers of roadway. In the first stage of the project, underground communication networks will be renewed. Also, overhead wires will be placed into underground cable channels. Underground waste collection bins will also be installed. In addition, modern road infrastructure will be arranged, the roadway and sidewalks will be renewed, and asphalt paving will be laid.
The outdoor lighting network will be completely replaced and a modern LED lighting system will be installed. Existing green spaces will be renewed and trees and plants will be planted. Above-ground pedestrian crossings will be arranged, road signs will be installed, and horizontal markings will be painted.
The avenue’s infrastructure will be fully adapted for people with disabilities. The works, which will be carried out by the Tbilisi City Hall Urban Infrastructure Development Service, will be completed by the end of November.
