According to the decree issued by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia - “On the Approval of Rules for the Treatment of Wildlife Objects by Species, the Hunting Terms, and the List of Permitted Weapons and Devices/Equipment for Harvesting” - the hunting season will officially open on the fourth Saturday of August, which falls on August 22.

Anyone wishing to hunt migratory birds are permitted from August 22 until March 1 of the following year, after paying the state-imposed fee of GEL 10 for the removal of migratory birds from the environment.

The fee may be paid at any bank in Georgia using the following details:

Hunting is prohibited in areas designated by the legislation of Georgia, including within the administrative boundaries of cities, state nature reserves, national parks, the Samukhi Multiple-Use Area, named after Nugzar Zazanashvili, as well as within 500-metre buffer zones around state nature reserves and 250-metre buffer zones around national parks. Hunting is also prohibited within the territories of breeding facilities managed and operated by the LEPL National Wildlife Agency.

Hunting of migratory birds is permitted only with hunting weapons specified in Article 7 of the Law of Georgia on Weapons, namely: smooth-bore hunting firearms (shotguns), rifled hunting firearms (carbines or rifles), combined hunting firearms, hunting cold weapons and projectile cold weapons, as well as hunting pneumatic weapons.
