Customs officers prevented the facts of importing undeclared gold jewelry in large quantities

Customs officers prevented six attempts to bring gold jewellery subject to mandatory declaration into Georgia through the “Tsiteli Khidi” ["Red Bridge"] customs checkpoint.

Detailed searches of Georgian and foreign nationals, their luggage and the vehicles they were driving revealed a total of 325 grams of gold jewellery.

The undeclared goods had a total customs value of GEL 66 720.

The case materials concerning one of the individuals were referred to the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance. The other five individuals were fined a total of GEL 44 964 under Article 168 1 of the Customs Code of Georgia.
