As part of her visit to Canada, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili met with Ahmed Hussen, Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development of Canada.

During the meeting, the sides discussed current issues on the agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation. Particular attention was paid to prospects for deepening political and trade and economic cooperation.

The discussion also covered cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries and the important role of the parliamentary dimension in further strengthening bilateral relations.

The sides also reviewed the situation in the region and existing security challenges. The important role of Georgia as a bridge connecting Europe and Asia was highlighted, as was the importance of close cooperation with international partners in light of the challenges facing the region.

The importance of support for Georgia`s sovereignty and territorial integrity was also emphasized.
