As a result of operative-searching and investigative activities carried out by representatives of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, charges were brought against two persons on the facts of attempting to illegally appropriate funds belonging to the state, as well as making and using a forged official document.

Investigation determined that, in order to illegally appropriate funds belonging to the state, the accused made two forged "Certificates of Grape Origin". The documents contained false data, according to which the place of origin of Rkatsiteli grapes was the village of Chandari, Gurjaani Municipality.

Using the above-mentioned forged certificates, the accused persons attempted to hand over 20 600 kilograms of grapes with low sugar content at the Chandari Wine Factory.

Investigation is underway under Article 19-180, Part 2, Subparagraph "a" and Article 362, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 4 to 7 years.
