The accused confessed and repented of the committed crime - Prosecutor on Tamaz Elizbarashvili

A 50,000 GEL fine and a 9-month conditional sentence - a plea bargain has been concluded with Tamaz Elizbarashvili. He was released from the courtroom. Elizbarashvili himself had approached the prosecution with a request to conclude the plea bargain.

According to the prosecutor, the accused recanted his past statements, confessed, and repented of the committed crime. Elizbarashvili is charged under the article involving threats of taking a life or causing bodily harm.

“The accused confessed and repented of the committed crime. Voluntarily, and with the participation of his lawyers, he wrote a statement and approached the prosecution regarding the conclusion of a plea bargain. Accordingly, based on this confession and repentance, a plea bargain was finalized with the accused.

The conducted investigation established that the accused was demonstrating a weapon; consequently, the victims were frightened and perceived this threat and the subsequent actions of the accused as real. Based on this, he was charged under Article 151 of the Criminal Code, which covers threats”, - said Prosecutor Goga Kokachashvili.
