We cannot in any form recognize the so-called states; the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia cannot be recognized by us in any way, even indirectly; therefore, no agreement can be concluded with them, and naturally, this will be the position expressed by the special representative, it is as simple as that. The Prime Minister of Georgia said in response to a journalist`s question regarding the Russian Foreign Ministry`s statement on non-use of force guarantees from the Georgian side.
When asked why it became necessary to appoint the Prime Minister`s special representative now, Irakli Kobakhidze noted that the Government saw the need for another important channel to work actively in specific directions, including the peaceful resolution of the conflict, trade and economic relations, and humanitarian issues.
"A certain amount of time passes, experience accumulates, you observe the development of events, and see what the practice is. Ultimately, we saw that another channel is needed to actively work on the relevant issues. There are several main directions: one is the peaceful resolution of the conflict, which, among others, the Geneva format and our representation in the Geneva format are engaged in. It also includes trade and economic relations and humanitarian issues. In all directions, we saw the need for an additional, important channel, and that is why we made this decision, taking general practice into account", - said the Prime Minister.
