"If adopted, the proposed draft law will restrict freedom of expression and freedom of speech" - the Union of Georgian Muslims

The Georgian Muslims Union responded to the proposed draft regarding insult of religious feelings. They believe that freedom of expression and freedom of religion should not come into a conflict with one another.

"We condemn any kind of violence, hate speech, efforts of bringing into confrontation and discord of various identity groups. We believe that if the bill becomes a law, it will restrict freedom of expression and freedom of speech," - the statement says.

According to the bill, which was proposed by a ruling coalition lawmaker Soso Jachvliani,insult of religious feelings will become an administrative offense.
