Zika virus may spread in Georgia too

The virus already spread in South America possibly is getting on the other continents too. By this time, the disease spread area are in 25 countries and the World Health Organization takes emergency measures.

South America is far from Georgia, but as it turned out, 2 years ago the mosquito that carries this dangerous virus detected also in Georgia.

Georgian specialists 2 years ago detected mosquito that can carry virus near Batumi in 2014, same mosquito species found near Zugdidi too. As the National Disease Control Centre said non of them carried the dangerous virus.

The NCDC also says, the danger of spreading Zika virus in Georgia is well, but it is minimal.
