Russia uses natural gas for political motives. In those European countries, which have other alternative than Russian gas, Gazprom has relatively low tariffs, while for those countries that are largely dependent on Gazprom, the natural gas price is high.

Such statements were made today at the Atlantic Council.
The Council discussed new ways to supply Europe with Gas. They consider to transfer the US liquefied natural gas with tankers.

The heads of energy companies not rule out that with the United States of America, other countries will also express readiness to supply Europe with gas. However in their opinion the main competition will be between Gazprom and the US.
