Visa-free regime with Iran is still in force. Visitors will be able to enter Georgia with simplified procedures at the end of the week.
3 years ago the government imposed new regulations explaining it by possible specific threats . However, today the ruling coalition view Iran as an important economic partner.
It is known that the government decision was preceded by a conversation with the President of Iran and Head of the Government.
The Minister of Justice did not make any comments today about the restoration of visa-free travel which was suspended three years ago. Tea Tsulukiani"s Office is one of the other branches of Government which canceled in 2013 visa-free regime for Iranian citizens.
Visa regime imposed by Georgia on Iran will be canceled on February 15, - the Deputy Ambassador of Iran to Georgia told reporters.
According to him, cancelation of visa-free regime stalled movement and economic relations between the two countries.
"In general, the economic relations develop when nations are free to travel, when investor enters freely and invests capital in the desired field. Cancelation of visa-free travel was reflected in trade turnover between Georgia and Iran. If the turnover was $200 million in 2012-13, today it is less than $130 million. However, it can be corrected, since Georgia and Iran have the potential to increase trade turnover,"- said the Deputy Ambassador.
