The visa regime imposed by Georgia for Iran has been abolished starting with February 15, 2016. After two years of suspension the first group entered Georgia today with simplified regime . The next step will be launching of direct air flights between Georgia and Iran in the near future - Deputy Iran’s Ambassador has told reporters.
According to him, economic relationships develop when there is free travel between people. ‘Iran and Georgia have a potential to increase trade flow,’ he said.
According to Georgia’s Foreign Ministry, the corresponding official note of Georgia’s Foreign Ministry was handed over to the Iran side.
‘According to the decision, the citizens of Iran’s Islamic Republic that own ordinary passports will be allowed to be in Georgia without visa for 45 days since crossing the border,’ informs the Ministry.
Iranian citizens, on the first day of entry, without a visa can stay for up to forty five.
