Georgia will get additional 500 million cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan.
The relevant agreement has been signed between Georgia and the Azerbaijani State Oil Company SOCAR at the Governmental Administration today.
More specifically, Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze and Rovnag Abdullayev, the President of Azerbaijani State Oil Company SOCAR, who is currently in Tbilisi, signed the changes to the memorandum of December 2011.
According to the changes, Georgia will get additional 500 million cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan. In addition, SOCAR will decrease the price of social gas for Georgia.
“Compared to 2012, consumption of natural gas in Georgia increased by 40%, which conditioned the need for purchase of additional volume of gas”, says the Ministry of Energy of Georgia.
After signing an agreement with SOCAR there is no need for importing natural gas from Iran, - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Kakha Kaladze said at a press conference held together with SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev.
