High rise buildings instead of the recreational zone- Tbilisi City Hall has recently issued permit for high-rise building construction on the territory adjacent to Tbilisi State University. The construction protrudes to the area of green cover which will be cut down in case Ecology Municipal service issues a permission.

University students oppose the cutting down of the plants on the territory. They point out to the environmental problems and the need for maintaining the recreational areas in the university"s space.

The United Water Supply Company headquarters will be builtin the vicinity of the University building.

The company believes that the project requires cutting down of nine trees only which they do not see as a problem.

Head of the service can not understand the students` complaints. According to him, the students participated in the project review process.
