NGOs are planning to appeal the Constitutional Court against the law on surveillance. They are going to appeal against some of the adopted articles. They believe that the law passed by Parliament legalizes the illegal tapping. As they state, they will continue their fight to amend the document using all legal means.
NGOs do not rule out protests. Today their representatives will make a public statement about their future action plan.
"In fact, the legalization of illegality took place. It turned out that these people do not care about their voters and human rights " said Eka Gigauri, the head of "Transparency International Georgia"
"If we want to go in the direction in which Europe is going, we will have to change the law we have. It is unfortunate that it was not possible today, but I am sure that it will be possible in the future. In fact, only good will protects us from being illegally tapped; however , I don’t want to depend on this good will ", - said Kakha Kozhoridze, the head of Young Lawyers Association.
