Confrontation between journalists and MP Tamaz Mechiauri took place

A few minutes ago,the confrontation between the journalists and a member of the parliamentary majority Tamaz Mechiauri took place.

The journalists were trying to interview Tamaz Mechiauri at Republic Square regarding his position about the arrest of LGBT rights defenders which caused Mechiauri`s irritation. He made homophobic statements and insulted journalists.

"You call LGBT the people who are staining the Patriarchate`s fences? Do you know who is LGBT? They stay in one place and take care of their part of the body the way they want, no one interferes, but when they go and stain the Patriarchate, they are gays and should know their place, "- said Mechiauri.

Mechiauri is going to join the scheduled for today rally.
