Universities protest against the draft law according to which the revenue and income taxes of higher education institutions should be included in the system of the State Treasury.

The university rectors call on the Parliament to maintain the autonomy of the universities.

The opinions have split in the Parliament. The ruling coalition does not see any problems in the  law. The "National Movement" believe that the government has decided to fill the gaps in the budget .

Minister of Education approves the  bill prepared  by the Ministry of Finance;  however, Sanikidze admits that the law has some drawback and  does not rule out the introduction of amendments.

The Finance Ministry does not comment on the changes in the Budget Code.
