South Gate" developments to be discussed in Akhaltsikhe

The developments around the publishing house "South Gate" were discussed in Akhaltsikhe Democratic Involvement Center. The publishing house and non-governmental organizations attended the meeting.
Attention was drawn to the murder in the village of Gogasheni in summer and the coverage of the processes  developing  around  the case.

The "South Gate" made statements on the pressure from the Interior Ministry. According to the staff, the  attempts to  put pressure  and interfere in the activities of the publishing house started on December 8, 2014. The newspaper published an article blaming  the local police chief in  physical abuse.

Nino Narimanishvili, newspaper editor, said that the spokesperson of the Interior Ministry called her  and demanded to change the article title. However, the newspaper refused. Tamuna Uchidze, the author of the article was also asked to change the title.

On December 11, some of  the village inhabitants held a rally outside the newspaper office. The relatives of the victims gathered  at the office claiming that the facts presented in the article are inaccurate, and the law enforcement officers could not have committed the offence .
