Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance of Georgia responds to the Public Defender"s report on suicide and ill-treatment of prisoners.

George Mgebrishvili said the investigation is carried out on each case of ill-treatment and the investigation results will presented to the public soon.

"The investigation is ongoing and in the near future facts that the public defender stresses will be clarified. Seven cases of suicide, six were last year, "- said the Minister.

The Public Defender"s Office sent the 18 recommendations to the Prosecution; however, no proper investigation was carried out.
