There were eight Georgians on the burning ferry in the Adriatic Sea, including a child and a pregnant woman. 7 of the survivors returned to their homeland last night. The survivors say the fire on the ferry broke out late at night when the passengers were asleep. One of the Georgians, Archimandrite Ilya Kartozia was not saved.The passengers reported that when trying to get into the rescue ship the clergyman fell from the ladder into the sea and drowned. The body of a 27-year-old Archimandrite Ilya Kartozia is in the city of Bari. According to Georgian consulate in Italy, the body will be transported to Georgia in the end of next week after the preliminary investigation is completed. The Greek rescue service " has also released a new video.refelecting a 36-hour rescue operation on Norman Atlantic". Reportedly, the disaster killed 11 people, dozens of people remain missing.
