One of the areas of the capital no longer has a recreational zone status because of Panorama Tbilisi project. Here Sololaki gardens must be built, which will be the most large-scale project of "Panorama ofTbilisi". The decision was adopted by the City Council on the last day of the previous year. The decision of the board members was differently assessed by environmentalists and had mixed reviews from MPs. The environmentalists say that this project is going to be economically unprofitable, as the deprivation of the status reduces the chances of the territory to get in UNESCO list.
Architect Irakli Qarseladze claims that the territory is the former landfill site which is now beeing cleaned and can be devloped. The opposition protests against the deprivation of the so-called American village of Recreation Zone Status and believes that this decision should not have been taken without prior discussion by the board.
"This will be a one-man office, it is regrettable that the removal of the status happened without discussion," - said Irakli Abesadze from the "National Movement" .
