"Tangerines" are among nominees for Oscar

A Estonian-Georgian co-production that tells the tale of a war-time drama is continuing to be recognised in the international arena.

Tangerines , directed by Georgian man Zaza Urushadze, was nominated by Estonia for the Motion Picture award in the International Film section of the International Press Academy (IPA). The film was the first Estonian-Georgian co-production and was nominated alongside films from nine other countries.
The movie tells a story that takes place in 1992 during the war in Abkhazia in an Estonian village that was situated there. In the village, whose residents have fled from war, injured fighters from two opposite sides of the battle front happen to all be staying in the same house of an Estonian elder.
