Family members of inmates gathered outside the prison N7 and held a protest against conditions existing there. Protesters demand improved living conditions and medical assistance for prisoners. As the prisoners" relatives say, the inmates who protest against grave conditions in prison went on hunger strike.6 prisoners are on hunger strike for 8 days already. The protest has been joined by the NGO "Center for Civic Engagement".According to Nikolaishvili, all observers, including the ombudsman, affirm that conditions in the prison are very bad indeed. 

“The prisoners have been on hunger-strike for a week. They are demanding to be transferred to somewhere with normal conditions,”- Nikolaishvili said.

According to him, restrictions were applied to the prisoners who went on hunger strike.
