"We believe that Georgia will become a member of NATO,"- US Ambassador to Georgia Jan Kelly told journalists while commenting on the NATO Secretary General`s statement on Georgia`s NATO membership and open door policy.

According to Jan Kelly, he has not seen the remarks by Jens Stoltenberg"s statement, but he has noted that the position of the US Secretary of State is fully consistent with the NATO Secretary General`s statement.

"We consistently have supported Georgia"s membership in NATO since the Bucharest summit declaration. As Vice President Pence said when he was here we will stand with Georgia until it is able to join NATO which means all NATO member to achieve consensus but the U.S. has always been supporting Georgia’s NATO membership, - U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Ian Kelly has remarked.

The NATO Secretary General said NATO is continuing its open door policy and is ready to get new members.
