Marijuana remains punishable , no one should have illusion that it is legalized - Akaki Zoidze

The parliamentary majority believe that the decision taken by the Constitutional Court is in line with the new drug policy developed by the Parliament which has not yet been approved.
Both the "Georgian Dream" and the parliamentary opposition believe that people should not be in prison because of marijuana smoking.

"Marijuana remains punishable , no one should have illusion that it is legalized It is clear that selling remains punishable. However, in case of personal use and small quantities, there will be no more criminal conviction according to the Criminal Code. There will be only administrative punishment, "- said Akaki Zoidze, chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Health Care and Social Issues.

Salome Samadashvili, deputy chairperson of the "National Movement" made the assessment.

"We generally support liberalization of relevant policies and adequate measures for taken against consumers," Samadashvili said.
