A cease fire on heavy artillery was due to start today in Eastern Ukraine, but the use of heavy artillery in the region has yet to cease.

Despite the Minsk agreement, pro-Russian separatists have advanced on Ukrainian positions, looking to take the strategic city of Debaltsevo. Russian tanks are reportedly being used in the siege of the city.

Due to the intensive fighting, the OBSE has closed off entrances to the city.
