Boris Nemtsov funeral to be held today in Moscow

Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov will be buried in Moscow at the Troyekurovskoye cemetery at his family"s request. A memorial service will also take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the a civil-rights Sakharov Center.

In connection with Nemtsov morning funeral ceremony the Ministry of Interior is taking special security measures in Moscow. 200 police officers and 100 riot police will be mobilized.

The arrival of the guests to attend the funeral processions has become the reason for scandals: Latvian MEP Sandra Kalniete who planned to attend the funeral of slain Russian opposition activist Boris Nemtsov said Monday she had been refused entry into Russia at Moscow"s Sheremetyevo airport.

Bogdan Borusewicz, Poland"s Senate speaker,who was to lead a delegation of Polish politicians and lawmakers attending Nemtsov"s funeral was refused entry by Moscow in retaliation for EU sanctions against Russia"s upper house of parliament speaker Valentina Matviyenko.
The day before the funeral, the main witness in the murder case of Nemtsov, Anna Duritskaia flew from Moscow to Kiev with the help of the Ukrainian Embassy.
