On the eve of Christmas, the Orthodox parish lit candles in the windows at the midnight.
The tradition was established by the Catholicos Patriarch of Georgia several years ago.
Orthodox Christians believe that by doing this they call on Christ to give them light and grace in their families.The ceremonial liturgy was held in the temples. Catholicos Patriarch of Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, visited the Holy Trinity Cathedral.
