According to the Democracy Research Institute (DRI, occupation forces may close the only checkpoint near the village of Perevi village (Sinaguri) in the coming days.

As the DRI reports, Russian militants warned several locals about the changes.

“Today Perevi checkpoint is the only hope for people to move from Akhalgori to the Georgian-controlled territory if necessary. It is unknown what this news is about, but many people decided against leaving Akhalgori temporarily, fearing that they will not be able to return home”, - reads the statement of organization.

DRI is concerned about the information the organization received in connection with the checkpoint and calls on authorities to use all mechanisms, and ensure the protection of the rights of their citizens.
