Meeting of Interagency Coordinating Council for combating organized crime was held at MIA

Second Meeting of Interagency Coordinating Council for Combating Organized Crime was held at MIA, which was chaired by the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Kakhaber Sabanadze.

At the meeting, the representatives of the member state agencies of the coordinating council discussed the annual report on implementation action plan for 2019-2020 of national strategy against organized crime 2017-2020.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Prosecutor’s Office, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Education and Science and State Security Service.

The parties discussed the current situation and challenges related to the fight against organized crime, the main target areas of the next strategy and action plan.

The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs talked about the ongoing reforms in the system and their significance.

“From the Systemic Upgrade reform I would highlight: Reform of the Criminal Police, Reform of Patrol Police and Enhancement of Border Protection. Sharing the best practices of different countries and introducing them into the system in these areas is very important for the combating organized crime, also, for the institutional development of the Ministry. It is especially crucial for the Ministry of Internal Affairs to increase the effectiveness of the Interagency Coordinating Council for Combating Organized Crime, to strengthen its activities, to develop joint activities to fight organized crime and to make decisions on this format.”- MR.
