This is not our mandate.
" In the dialogue with the Georgian authorities, the IMF has consistently emphasized the importance of respecting and preserving independence of the National Bank of Georgia ( NBG). Azim Sadikov underlines that Georgian authorities have repeatedly reaffirmed their commitment to independence of NBG .
"The IMF is concerned that recent initiations to amend the central bank law would put NBG independence at risk. We recommend to hold proper consultations with key stakeholders and international experts. "- says Sadikov"s statement.
As Georgia"s former PM Bidzina Ivanishvili has declared, an IMF representative asked him not to detain National Bank President Giorgi Kadagidze and he took his request into account.
