Recep Tayyip Erdogan"s party lost its majority in parliamentary elections

In Turkey, the President Recep Tayyip Erdogan"s party lost its majority in parliament for the first time in 13 years. When 97% of the votes were counted, it became clear that Erdogan"s Justice and Development Party was supported by 41% of voters, which is not enough for the constitutional amendment, which is needed to increase the powers of the President Erdogan.

The outcome suggests contentious days of jockeying ahead as the party moves to form a coalition government. Pro-Georgian party has overcome the 10% threshold for the first time. People"s Democratic Party has already announced that they would not cooperate with Erdogan"s party.
