The 88-year-old Georgian local Data Vanishvili, whose house and agricultural lands were divided into two parts by the occupational forces in the village of Khurvaleti, died after a long illness, family members reported.
Russian occupational forced installed barbed wires near Vanishvili’s house in 2011. Representatives of the Diplomatic Corps often talked to Data Ivanishvili about the situation in the occupied village.
Data Papa was most active in contact with international visitors. He did not recognize the de facto republic and stated that he was a citizen of Georgia and did not intend to give up his house.
