To control the quality of alcoholic beverages produced in Georgia, 15 inspections were conducted at five companies under state supervision from January through August of this year. The inspections aimed to assess whether the technological processes used in wine production at the enterprises complied with the requirements established by Georgian legislation. No violations were identified in any of the 31 samples taken.

In addition, 213 inspection controls were carried out at 44 companies. The purpose of these controls was to determine whether the relevant lots of alcoholic beverage samples submitted for certification complied with the applicable requirements. Of the 557 samples taken, non-compliance was identified in nine samples from four companies.

In the Economic Zone of Registration, the international auditing companies Bureau Veritas and SGS inspected the products of 66 companies. Of the 273 samples taken, non-compliance was identified in 12 samples from eight companies.

As a result of the controls conducted from January through August, 17 fines were issued in connection with 19 samples from 10 companies. The total amount of the fines imposed was GEL 25,000.

To enhance the competitiveness of Georgian wine and other alcoholic beverages and ensure the quality of Georgian products in international markets, the National Wine Agency systematically conducts quality control. Compared with previous years, the number of violations has decreased, demonstrating the effectiveness of the wine quality control system.
