During demolition works conducted in the former Computational Mathematics Institute, the building collapsed, killing three people and critically injuring one. It is not known what caused the collapse of the second floor of building leaving three dead at the scene; a fourth casualty, died soon after in intensive care.

One of victims was a minor. All four victims are members of one family.

Now, the investigation will have to determine whether the safety rules were observed at construction site.

The City Hall has expressed sorrow over the matter. Vice-Mayor Kumsishvili said that the incident would be investigated and the perpetrators would be held responsible.
