The country’s healthcare system is fully mobilized to provide proper treatment to coronavirus patients amid the Omicron surge. Such a statement made today the Minister of Health.

“Up to 1 000 cases of Omicron have been laboratory confirmed. On the positive side, it can be said that omicron is quite a light form of infection. Due to the increased infections, we have not significantly increased the number of hospitalizations. Also, the number of deaths has been reduced.

If the number of Omicron cases increases significantly, the healthcare system is fully mobilized and ready to face any challenge. We have medicines on the spot, with which we treat the infected with COVID at different stages”, - Zurab Azarashvili.

Besides, as he added, Georgia will also secure COVID-19 treatment pills from Pfizer and Merck in a few weeks, which are effective during COVID treatment.
