Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili has opened the first combined cycle thermal power plant in the town of Gardabani.
As the Prime Minister said, the first combined cycle thermal power plant is a project worth 231 million, construction of which was funded by the Oil and Gas Corporation and the Partnership Fund.
"This plant will ensure steady energy supply in the shortest possible terms. Construction of the plant started in January last year and was completed three months ahead of the schedule.
I want to thank the Partnership Fund, its head Irakli Kovzanadze, as well as the Oil and Gas Corporation and the construction company - the biggest Turkish company "Calik Energy” - for successfully bringing the project to its conclusion.
I am sure that the Gardabani thermal power plant will greatly benefit our country and contribute to our energy security and independence,”- said the PM, adding that a new stage of energy development had begun in the country.
