CEC simplifies the rule of assigning a sequence number to political parties

The Central Election Commission simplified the rule of assigning the sequence number to political parties. With similar decisions, the commission continues to support political party activities.

If the political subject was represented with different sequence numbers during the past elections (for instance the political party was represented with different sequence number during 2020 parliamentary elections and with the different number during the 2021 municipal elections), the current amendment allows political parties to choose one sequence number to participate in different types of By-elections.

It should be underlined that if political party participated in both general elections, but this time is going to participate only in parliamentary by-elections, the political party is allowed to choose the sequence number used during the last parliamentary elections or the sequence number assigned to the political party during the last municipal elections.

To receive the required sequence number, the political party shall apply the Central Election Commission with an official letter and notify about its decision until February 10, 2022.

The CEC adopted the legal act on the mentioned issue at today’s session. The main goal of the decision is to ease the involvement of political unions in electoral processes.
